Ranga Rao Memorial School for Differently abled (RMSD) is a free residential school for visually challenged girls. The school is recognized by the Child Centric Project of the Government of Karnataka and has residence facilities for 100 students.

Established in 1988, RMSD is a Kannada medium school for classes 1 to 10 (SSLC) under Karnataka State syllabus, with majority of the students from rural backgrounds.

The school has dedicated teachers and RMSD facilities include well equipped student friendly classrooms, computer lab, Braille & audio library. The institution has a team of counselors who provide parent counseling and also conduct house visits to spread awareness of education for the visually impaired.

In addition to the academic curriculum, mobility and life-skills training are an important aspect of education in this school. The students are given training in music, dance and basic cooking lessons. The children regularly participate and win prizes at inter-school sports, music and quiz competitions.

The aim of the school is to groom visually challenged girls to overcome total dependency and live confidently, leading to better opportunities in life. Many of the students of RMSD have gone on to pursue higher education in regular colleges and have been employed in private and government sectors.
