Project Prerepana (2006)
The objective of Project Prerepana is to promote schooling among children who are drop outs from regular schools, or children who are not able to academically cope with their own age group because of low learning ability or other economic factors. This is done through learning centres known as “KALIKA KENDRA” where children are taught and also given tuition to fill gaps in their academics.

To motivate and encourage participation and to develop leadership qualities and confidence in the children, these Kendras additionally conduct training camps, trekking trips, and other extra curricular activities periodically. This helps in showcasing the childrens’ talents to their own community and also to sustain their interest and maintain regularity at the academic sessions.

This community based activity is being conducted through day and evening Kalika Kendras in seven slums of Mysore City - Metagalli, Kumbarakoppal, Medar’s block, Hebbal colony, B. B. Keri, Ekalavyanagar and Manjunathapura.

Women, youth and leaders of the communities are also encouraged to understand the importance of education and health through awareness activities like jathas, street plays and melas through women’s “SANGHA”s.

In the last two years, of the 150 children enrolled in the Kalika Kendras, 50 children in the age group of 4 to 16 years have successfully gone into regular schools and mainstream education.

SVYM (Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement - an NGO, is implementing Project Prerepana for NR Foundation.
